Euro Millions

The EuroMillions was originally set up by the national lotteries of France, Spain and the UK and was launched in February 2004. The inaugural Euro Millions lottery draw occurred on February 13th 2004 in Paris. The UK, France and Spain were the only three countries participating at the start but lotteries from Austria, Belgium, the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland also committed to the draw in October 2004.
The EuroMillions lotto or the Euro lottery, as it is commonly branded, pools the stakes of all 9 partaking European countries presenting a huge Euro Millions lottery jackpot. With the number of countries joining the EU on the increase, this will clearly lead to new nations participating in the EuroMillions. A rise in the number of people playing the EuroMillions lottery will lead to a further growth of the already huge Euro Millions lotto jackpots.
How To Play The Euro Millions Lottery
Each participant chooses 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 “Lucky Star” numbers from 1 to 9. During the draw, 5 main and 2 lucky star numbers are then pulled out at random from two draw machines containing numbered balls.
EuroMillions Prizes And Odds
The likelihood of grabbing the EuroMillions lottery jackpot is a distant 1 in 76 million but the chances of winning any prize is a reasonable achievable 1 in 24. If nobody wins the jackpot in a certain week, it is carried forward to the following week which results in an ever growing Euro Millions prize fund. New rules brought in on the 4th of January 2007 and became law on the 9th of February 2007 limit the amount of successive “rollovers” to eleven, with the jackpot rolling down to lower prize levels in the eleventh draw if the prize is not won.
The new rules also established EuroMillions "Super Draws" which occur twice each year and present jackpots in the region of £100 million. The difference with “Super Draws” is that the jackpot must be won the night of the draw; therefore, if no ticket matches all the drawn numbers then the jackpot will be rolled down to the next winning prize tier.
Some Memorable EuroMillions Payouts
• In February 2008, the “Super Draw” jackpot of €130 million was won by sixteen individuals who matched the 5 main numbers and 1 “Lucky Star” number.
• On the 10th of August, a forty year old previous Royal Mail postal administrator from Scotland won a EuroMillions jackpot of €52.6 million. Up to now, this is the biggest lottery win yet in the UK.
• In November 2006, having rolled over eleven times, the Euro lotto jackpot arrived at €183 million and was divided among 20 fortunate ticket buyers.
Ways To Play Euro Millions
Normally, to partake in the EuroMillions lottery you would have to be a resident of one of the nine participating member countries. However, with the introduction of lottery ticket sales agents you can now purchase your required amount of Euro Millions lotto tickets on the internet in spite of where you reside worldwide. If you are seeking a boost in your odds of winning the Euro Millions, you may also consider joining an e-Lottery EuroMillions syndicate. As a participant in a Euro syndicate you play with a 36 times greater chance of winning the jackpot when compared to the ticket buying public. With e-Lottery there are very few geographic obstacles preventing members from joining and as a result the existing membership is made up of persons from no less than 133 worldwide nations

The Confusing And Exciting El Gordo Spanish Lottery

The El Gordo (The Fat One) Christmas lotto is the most long-established lottery draw in Spain with the large majority of the country’s inhabitants taking part. Believe it or not, this draw has turned out to be a national diversion with 98% of Spain’s citizens playing. This is not really surprising when you consider that the El Gordo is the largest prize fund lotto game globally. The typical Spanish resident spends approximately 73 Euros in the Christmas draw and in 2008 the prize fund is expected to surpass a staggering €2.20 billion. Here are a number of key features of the El Gordo lottery: · More than 13,000 prizes are paid out. · It is operated by the Spanish Government.· There is an excellent 1 in 6 chance of winning a cash prize.· All prizes are paid out straight away and are tax exempt for Spain's citizens. · 70% of total ticket sales are paid out in prize money. Since December 1812 this Spanish national lottery has followed exactly the same procedure every year. Two big circular containers are used; one of them contains tens of thousands of small wooden balls representing all ticket numbers; the other one contains a smaller amount of wooden balls representing the prizes to be drawn. In the Lotería Nacional hall in Madrid, pupils of the San Ildefonso School (formerly reserved for orphans of public servants) draw the numbers and corresponding prizes, singing the results out loud in front of the public while Spanish radio and television stations transmit the occasion.
Due to the vast amount of numbers and prizes, this process takes approximately three hours to finish. In recent years, more than 4,800 individual numbers have collected no less than €1,000 per billete (€100 per décimo) in the Christmas draw. Those who do not win frequently come out with the predictable comment that "it's health that really matters". Participants who only get their money back will frequently re-invest the prize in a ticket for El Niño, the second most significant draw, held on January the 6th every year.
The two vessel system is the time-honoured method of drawing the numbers in Spanish lotteries but this approach is now kept exclusively for the legendary Christmas lotto draw. The rest of the weekly and 5 other yearly El Gordo draws operate using five vessels with ten balls in each, from where the winning numbers are selected.
Lottery retailers in Spain usually only sell tickets for one or two numbers, so the winners of the biggest prizes frequently live in the same town or neighbourhood or work for the same firm. In 2005, the winning number was sold in the town of Vic in Catalonia (population 37,825), whose inhabitants shared approximately €500 million.
Traditionally, you could only participate in the El Gordo if you were a citizen of Spain. However, with the introduction of lottery ticket sales agents you now have the chance to take part in this world famous Spanish lottery regardless of where you reside around the world. Some international El Gordo syndicates have also been introduced to not only allow more people access to this lottery but to boost their likelihood of collecting cash prizes as well.

Joining elottery syndicates- Positives and Negatives

It is common knowledge that a lottery syndicate is without doubt the best way to participate in any lotto if you are looking to improve your odds of winning some serious lottery cash. In fact, in excess of one quarter of all lotto jackpot wins are secured by lottery syndicates. These lottery syndicates are more often than not formed by groups of work associates or friends who have the one goal of enhancing their lottery winning chances. Working collectively in this way gives each member of the syndicate more potential winning entries but at the same time ensuring each individual's entry fee is kept as low as possible.
Being a syndicate member can come with a considerable odds improvement markedly if the syndicate has a larger amount of people taking part. Then again, being a member of a lottery syndicate does have its downside.
The first and probably the most apparent negative quality of a syndicate is the fact that all prize money is split between all players in the syndicate equally. Therefore, the more syndicate members there are, the lower the cash sum each of these members will receive. Because of this, a considerable lottery syndicate success may only create sufficient prize money for each member to pay for a vacation or a new dining room suite; but definitely not sufficient to quit the day job and acquire a private jet! As long as each member is aware of this prospect then one and all should be happy.
The second drawback with lotto syndicates directly relates to the point made above. Stories can occasionally be seen in the press about a selfish syndicate member(s) who is unwilling to share out the syndicate winnings to colleagues and attempt to keep it all for them self. This can without doubt be a massive dilemma if the syndicate has been set up informally. If this is the set of circumstances, each of the aggrieved members has then got to show in legal terms that they have actually been ripped off. There have also been instances where a syndicate member has lost their portion of the prize money owing to late or non payment of their syndicate payment. Situations like these often lead to legal action.
The third snag that may arise if no official syndicate agreement has been formulated is that of inheritance tax issues. If the head of the syndicate collects the winnings and then "gifts" every member their equal share, then this tax could become a reality for every syndicate member.
Problems such as this can be limited hence making everyone's lives a lot simpler. If the syndicate is formed using a legally binding lottery syndicate agreement then any of the problems mentioned here will cause no further problems. These agreements can be downloaded from your lotto provider's internet site and in many cases can be collected from your lottery retailer.
There is no real argument that the advantages of joining a lottery syndicate are far greater than any negative points involved. If the syndicate is registered in the correct and legal way as mentioned, the only things you actually have to be concerned about are paying your money each week and planning what you will do with the funds when your lotto syndicate gets lucky.

El Gordo and the Christmas lottery Fat One

Later in December 2008 eLottery will be adding the El Gordo to its set of lotteries offering subscribers all over the world a greatly improved chance of sharing in this huge Spanish lottery prize pot.
If this is the first point in time you have found out about the El Gordo lottery, let me demonstrate just how important this lotto is to the large majority of Spaniards. The El Gordo lottery has been a national passtime in Spain for a for many years with massive appeal generated by the Christmas draw each year. In fact, 97% of the inhabitants play this Spanish National lottery each Christmas.
There are a few main reasons why so many Spanish people play a part in the Christmas El Gordo draw. Firstly, there is the enticementof the leading lottery prize fund of any worldwide lotto - €2.20 Billion! Secondly, there are 13,332 cash prizes to be won. Finally, the odds of grasping a cash prize in the Christmas draw are a very generous 1 in 6.
With the degree of consideration that is given to the Christmas El Gordo lottery game, a lot of people are oblivious to the fact that there are five additional El Gordo draws every year as well. These draws take place in January, March, May, July and November. Even though these 5 games do not boast the massive prize fund of the Christmas game, they are significant nonetheless, ranging from €78 million to €655 million. Furthermore, these draws offer approximately 3 times as many prizes as the Christmas draw and odds of collecting a cash prize of an amazing 1 in 3.
The Spanish Christmas lottery functions in a different way to the majority of other worldwide lottos. A complete ticket 'billete' is very expensive, costing €200. However, these tickets are split up into ten 'decimos' (tenths) each costing €20. When buying your tickets you have the choice of buying a single decimo, a full ticket, or a portion of a ticket. If you don't buy the whole ticket, someone else will buy the rest of your ticket. For example, if you obtain two decimos, somebody else buys three decimos and someone else buys five and your ticket collects €1000, then you will secure €200, €300 and €500 respectively. Due to the cost of purchasing a whole ticket, it is very common for families and friends to pool their lotto money and each person buy a separate 'decimo' (tenth).
The chances of winning a cash prize in the El Gordo lottery are tremendous but if you opt to play as a member of one of e-Lottery's El Gordo syndicates you will have a 20 times better prospect of sharing cash prizes in every draw.
Come and discover the full advantages of playing the El Gordo as an e-Lottery syndicate member and revel in the excitement of this mammoth Spanish National lottery.
